Rare Footage Uncovered Of Elvis’ Emotional Love Song Is Bringing Tears To All

We’ve seen The King of Rock ‘N Roll, Elvis Presley, in a variety of settings. He’s filled stadiums, performed for international dignitaries, sang privately for royalty and held televised concerts some of us will remember until the day we pass! Sadly, Elvis is no longer with us – but his music lives on in our hearts and on recordings we can turn to no matter how many years pass! So when this clip of Elvis singing “Always on My Mind” was uncovered, they knew it had to be shared. His loyal fans would love to see such a private moment between The King, his music and the recording studio…

While many of us know “Always on My Mind” because of Elvis’ stunning rendition, the song was actually first written by Johnny Christopher, Mark James, and Wayne Carson, and recorded by Gwen McCrae and Brenda Lee back in 1972. Elvis fell in love with the tune and quickly release his own version – within weeks, it was climbing the charts and eventually reached the 20th spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. Not only was his success noticeable, but the timing behind its recording was as well. Elvis released his version just weeks after splitting from his wife, Priscilla.

We have no way to know if Elvis was feeling gloomy about his split from Priscilla and turned to this song for comfort – or, if he simply recognized how great of a tune “Always on My Mind” was! Take a rare look inside Elvis’ creative process in the video below. Quality videos of Elvis are hard to find, and this one makes us feel like we were really there watching The King sing his blues away. What an experience that must have been in person.
